Moving Momz

Okay, so let's talk health for a moment.

When I got pregnant with Jay, I was 15-20 lbs heavier then I wanted to be. Which isn't awful. I had a pretty normal pregnancy, nothing crazy. Gained 30lbs with her-which seems to be pretty average. I walked with her right up until the end...

However, it was hardly how I envisioned my first pregnancy. I wanted to be one of 'those mom's' that was dedicated to their workout routine right until the end. Especially since there are so many women who don't get the luxury of moving about because they are bed-ridden.

But it just didn't happen.

I hate to admit it, but I was...lazy. No really, I can make all the excuses, I was tired, I wasn't sleeping great...wah wah wah wah wa wa...

The truth is, those were great excuses for  just not 'feeling' like it. Which is awful-I KNOW better.

After 1.5 years towards a Physical Education degree (which I hope to one day finish), my fitness leadership, and countless hours of working with parents who have relayed their own experiences...I know that I could have done way better.

My saving grace, I'm 23 years old, and everything 'bounces' back a little easier, a little faster.

So. now Jay is 5.5 months old, and I am less than my pre-pregnancy weight.

My journey doesn't stop there though.

You see, we want more kids, but I am NOT going to do it the same way-ever again.

Things have to change.

Holding that little one in my arms I realized something-how is this fair-for her? I don't want Jay growing up with overweight parents, or the health issues the come with it. Jay needs to have a mother that she can look up to, respect, and learn healthy life habits from.

So we, my husband (because it has to be a family thing), took a look at what got us into this mess.

When my husband and I met I was playing soccer, working at a climbing gym, teaching dance for my first year dance class, and working out. He was biking everywhere! We enjoyed food, and were able to eat pretty much whatever we wanted.

Then the moving stopped. But the eating didn't.

So-you won't see the word DIET here. I don't believe in them.

What you will see is two people that are now watching calories in to calories out, whom are moving, far more than they were.

We made a lifestyle change. Plain and simple.

There are no pills, no gimmicks, no extra costs (in fact, I am sure we save $$$).

We are more active, and we don't deny ourselves 'types of food', just amounts-which makes food all the better.

Regardless of your story, and how it 'weighs' on you-you too can make the change. Whether you have 5 lbs or  200 lbs to go from your goal weight, make the change so that your family (now or soon to be) will have you around-that much longer.

Keep an eye out for my "Moving Momz" posts.
